Orient Express (Simplon, Direct etc) - possible models and compositions

Hi everyone,
First, I would like to apology because of my English language – it is not on that level I want it to be
but I hope you will understand point of my texts if I miss the right word or place some on grammatically incorrect place.

There are couple of pictures and schemas from the past showing some train composition in/to/from Greece.

I am interested to find possible H0 models of the wagons that can be appropriate to make adequate composition of those trains specially those seen between Niš-Thessaloniki (Athenes).
By searching info on the internet and sugestion and help from the hobby-coleagues from ex-YU I tryed to find some models that I think can be useful for those compositions.

Here we have a composition of Simplon Orient Express between 1937-1939:

The luggage/staff wagon was shifting SEK /JDZ.

Andreas made very nice SEK model, maybe we can use it for SOE:


H0 model we could (maybe) use to convert to SEK I found in Fleischmann 5067:


Appropriate wagon to convert to JDZ I found in Fleischmann 5069:

CIWL WL models from LS Models 49133 set are very good choice for this composition:


We can add LS Models 49144 as a fourth CIWL WL car in composition. This model shows Romanian car but construction and livery are appropriate for this composition.

I was not able to find good quality model of CIWL dining car.
To use prehistoric model Liliput 261 00 maybe is OK because it shows car with the similar construction to the WR car parked in Belgrade.


A better quality choice could be Trix 3796 but it has 3-axeled bogies (alternative to replace?).


I have heard that Märklin produced model with 2-axeled bogies, but I cannot find that model.

Liliput L384203 is good model to convert to SEK 1./2. class car.


I do not know if Andreas converted the same model but it is very nice conversion.



Roco 45445 model of the popular “Hechtwagen” is appropriate model to convert into JDZ 3. class coach.
Those were parts of compositions to Greece even later so we can use this model to build other compositions too.


This was my view which models to use to build H0 SOE-1937-39 composition.
I would be grateful for all additional information that could lead us to find better and more apropriate models for this composition.

Another nice composition: SOE in 1951 - we can make similar one in H0.



I do not have information about adequate SEK models of the loco and that freight wagon behind it but I guess my Greek-hobby-colleagues can help with some info.

Model of JDZ coach as that one on the pictures doesn´t exist,
but as I mentioned before Roco 45445 model of the popular “Hechtwagen” is appropriate model for JDZ 3. class coaches seen in Greece at that time.

Possible models of that CIWL dining car are the same from before:
prehistoric model Liliput 261 00…


… or Trix 3796 with 3-axeled bogies.


I still cannot find that Märklin dining car with 2-axeled bogies.

REE Models VB-196 and VB-197 are appropriate models of the most elegant coach (my opinion) of that time, the French DEV AO.
The first one, VB-196 has long “skirt” above the bogies and recommended minimum radius is 570 mm
