Jason there were 3 hoppers from Poland as well built by Zastal in 1979.

Very interesting wagons, similar to the SNCF 'face bombée' types but with a number of differences. Interestingly, they have the cast type of Y25 bogie, unusual on cereal hoppers which normally have the welded type. I have not so far been able to find out how many were built for SNCF, but there are certainly none like these in service today, as far as I'm aware.

Balbigny is in south-eastern France in the Rhône-Alpes region. CFMF was originally 'Ateliers et Chantiers de Balbigny' and specialised in the manufacture of mining equipment including narrow gauge railway items. Bought out in 1930, they became 'Compagnie Forézienne de Matériel Ferroviaire', later 'Compagnie Française de Matériel Ferroviaire' and following a period of operating in the railway scrap trade, they turned to building wagons in the 1960s, while the new owner, a car enthusiast, turned part of the company's work to building a high perfromance sports car that was called the 'Monica'. Many technical difficulties were encountered in developing this vehicle and in the end only 17 were made, the financial problems caused resulting in the company's closure in 1987.

These three grain hoppers are only similar to the "faces bombées", classic on french rails.

Instead, this model was a pulverulent hopper ... This série was at a time, unexploited et low solded , it explains its dispersion... So several owners has bought some of these for particular products, for example rapeseed, alfalfa, sugar (France Luzerne,TMF CITA, FranceSucre), and some others, simply for corn, as Monfer.

Now, part of the serie is seeked in the pool Transcéréales.

I am very recently registered an this fabulous forum !

I just discovered by chance this topic about grain hopper cars and I was very surprised to discover the CFMCF (not CFMF) wagons. These type was rather rare in France too !

CFMCF menans : Compagnie Française de Matériel de Chemin de Fer (Ateliers de Balbigny - 42)

Concerning your questions, I can't answer it because I don't know the greek standard gauge rolling stock.

I just can show you the three most common types grain hopper wagon in France (built from the late '60 to to the early '80). Maybe some were sold in Greece ?

First type : 96 m3 capacity, flat sides. Built by Fauvet-Girel.

Third type : 94 m3 capacity, rounded sides. Built by Fauvet-Girel. With three emptying trapdoors for the first ones and two for the last ones.

Both types exist at HO scale by Hornby-Jouef and maybe at "N" scale :

The flat one is the old Rivarossi. The rounded one is made by Hornby-Jouef. The 96 m" was made by the now disappeared French firm "Le RMA" in the '70 but the wagon had many errors.

Märklin rounded (HO) are very nice too but the flat ones are wrong because too short.
