When I saw the price that what I also thought.... 474€ for one with sound.....thats about the price of the DJH kit plus Sound...around....and its metal. We'll.

I remember that 12 years ago roco introduced a model of the ASEA Rc3 or 5. At that time this electic locomotive costed 305€ I think today the model is offered at less than 200€. Maybe its the first series, or until the pay off the moulds.

Will that locomotive be manufactured out of brass (or other metals, i.e. white-metal) from ROCO? I cannot find in their website any Information about it.

Did they do the same to Rc3 SJ?

It's a very interesting model and unique, as it's an american one!

Nevertheless, it will need convertion. I don't have a problem with convertion, because they keep people busy, however I cannot understand why ROCO didn't construct anything for OSE. I mean, it did that to Eastern-block railways, i.e. ZSR, MAV, PKP, CFR, etc.. Because ROCO is a very interesting model-train manufacturer with very fine-details on rolling-stock, now better I believe. I also mean, I prefer it more from other Companies, i.e. A.C.M.E., LS MODELS, RIVAROSSI, JOUEF, TILLIG, FLEISCHMANN... Specially, in freight wagons it's excellent.

Hi Dimitri,

as usual the model will be metal chassis with Plastic superstructure. All models of roco are the same. For 400 euros you wont get brass.....Micrometakit Kb costs 1800 euros.

Eastern block railways sell more than Greece. Thats a fact.

For Proto87 Wheels for this loco you could contact then Holger Graeler in Germany (I guess about 200-250 euros for the Wheels)

by giving a second thought about this locomotive probably in your situation I would buy the DJH kit (maybe Christo has still some in stock) and build that. It is probably easier to convert although I have to warn you...its not an easy kit. I am building brass & WM kits for a number of years now but I have not been beyond 3 axles up to now, although I have two kits of this locomotive just here besides me....

Yes, I know Graeler. He makes RP25 Code88/110 and PROTO: 87 in any diameter and for any model.

Concerning, the models, the DJH kit is OK and very very fine, but as I see from the ROCO model, the latter is more exact to the prototype, i.e. the bogie-frames of the tender are exactly the same to the prototype, but on the DJH kit, are a little different, I think... However, both models are OK, with me.

Yes, I agree, the soldering of brass steam locomotives, is very difficult, compared to other kits, i.e. freight wagons, diesels.

I know this "problem" of the DJH kit. Thats why I got some Bettendorf trucks from Kadee.

1./ Has the DJH kit of USATC S160 (to be converted to Θγ) sprung driving wheels?

2./ Also, which sprung-trucks you use from KADDEE? You have mentioned the Bettendorf ones.

I think the latter looks similar to the ones the prototype-tender has. However it has some differences in the bogie-frame, i.e. in the one we have, the bogie-frame is round at the sides, in the other hand, the one that KADDEE constructs (T-section), has angles on the sides. I am not sure..
