@BalkanExpress
i think it is better we wait for a very fine detailed LSmodels car in the next years...

I found a nice old French video/movie with
old OSE and CIWL-OSE-WR

ACME carriage 3431 does not appear on Tim's list. Does anyone have any info on it?

@Christo, because the LSmodels 49041 / number 3431

I have not a information about this era 50/60s and the operation between CIWL and the european countries.

But from Lsmodels gives with CIWL number 3438 a carriage with turkish lettering,
and this carriage runs from CIWL in Turkey from Konstantinopel on the Baghdad-Railway to Iraq
I have found from this Number 3438 a photo in a book.

So i think this is also with the 3431, runs in this time from CIWL at Greece with Simplon Orient Express and other
registred at GR, after this operation come this car return to middle/western europe,
and other ex. CIWL carriages has bought after this operation the SEK/OSE.

best regards Andy

Great find Andy!!! :D

not only so many clean and shiny OSE coaches but other interesting things from the late 70s too. note the then ubiquitous 3wheelers!

with some research I found that it's the 1980 French film "On a volé la cuisse de Jupiter" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081276/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Good shining Sunday morning from Spain,

I love that "Balkan-Hellas Express" stock. I'm suprised that those Breda's coach were still in use so late.

Regards

BalkanExpress and joyfull trains in green and CIWL colour. We love real compositions :D

I have found this interesting "digital magazine on railway history" as it is presented http://retours.eu/
the October 2013 issue has many interesting photos and info about the three countries border and Pythion Station http://retours.eu/en/11-simplon-orient- ... a-greece/#
have a look at the other issues too

caption says "Photos show local third-class coaches coupled to the 'luxury' Simplon Orient Express at Pythion" this coach behind the CIWL sleeper reminds me of something :mrgreen:
I'm sure some of you will be able to identify more interesting rolling stock in these photos ;)

Dear all,

This is my first post to this forum. In case you wonder, I'm the author of the pictures quoted above. I have a few more pictures along the same theme which I'll be happy to share.

The first two pictures above are not dated, so I can tell you that they were taken in Athens in August 1986. Unfortunately I do not have my 1986 diary (to cut a long story short) so I do not know the exact date.

First question from me too :

Image
LS Models ref. 49141

Can anyone help with some background history on sleeping-car no. 3431 ? (what services it ran on in these markings) Thank you.

A very Happy New Year to all :!:

Dear Pierre B, welcome.
It has been a long time since our last communication. Obviously someone provided ACME with the information about this carriage. Though I provided some information to them, unfortunately it was not about this carriage. I would therefore also welcome any available info on these wonderful carriages and continual service in Greece.
