SEK & CONSTITUENTS - Ancient carriages - Before WWII

Since we now have Pierre B. amongst our midst I thought of asking some info on this carriage. My photo was “borrowed” in the French forum Loco Revue Presse but I could not understand the French contributors’ comments. Besides I give the photo now with better resolution

That is an ex- D.R. and ex- KPEV Prussian coach, which was left at Greece by the Germans and numbered initially Γρπτ 599 and later Βφπτ 599. Based at Thessaloniki it stopped serving in the early 60s with last revisional inspection at 30/9/1959. It was about to be scrapped since 1963 when it was at Lachanokipi. Then it was transported to SOM and in 1987 it was officialy exluded from the scrap lists to survive as a museum item. Around 1990 it was again transported to Lachanokipi to wait its destruction in 200x. (it surely existed untill 2002, but i don't know the exact date of its ''dissapear'').

It is a prussian 1st,2nd class compartment coach built on the plan AB D.I. 21 ordered probably by the A.L. (Alsace Lorraine) but was delivered to the KPEV. Reason for this is unknown....

Γρπτ 599 and later Βφπτ 599

Just one question Jason. I found this photo on the Internet. It looks like the same carriage but the number seems to be Βφπτ562. Any suggestions?

Of course i can not recognize those ancient beaties only by looking at them... my reply about 599 was based on the builder's plate and works number which is true that Βρπτ 599 was built by DE DIETRICH et CIE, NIEDERBRONN with Works number 50187.

Βφπτ 562 was again an ex- DR and ex- KPEV (Prussian) carriage but built in Germany in 1902 by WEYER...something.

So in my point of view something of the following is true :

a) The DE DIETRICH builder's plate is not of the coach you posted it with

b) That one on George Nathenas' photo is 599, not 562.

c) they are very simillar wagons ...

OK good news for all who followed this question. Jason is right. I dag into the negatives box and ...the plate I took did not correspond to that carriage. So here I go again, hopefully with all mysteries solved.

All Photos Balkanmodels: Carriage Βφπτ 562 is by Dusseldorfer 1902. Note that there are only three remaining buffers in all photos, and note the last inspection date!
