Bulgaria designed a strategy for recovering his railway
The plan proposes a minimum purchase of thirty electric units and sixteen diesel units, giving priority to the main European transit corridors.
On 7 April, the Ministry of transport, Information, Technology and Communications of Bulgaria, issued a draft to develop the strategy of railway for the period 2015-2022 and re-isueing of the State railway company, BDZ, with the intention of opening a period of consultancy on the project.
The proposals include three scenarios, depending on available funding, the draft called "optimistic" and "pessimistic" and "realists". The proposals include a program for investment in rolling stock, with minimum requirements of fifteen electric multiple units.
The optimistic strategy would significantly improve the quality of service with the acquisition of thirty electric units and dieiciseis units diesel, with emphasis on the development of the main European corridors of transit as a second priority.
Fundraising
It also includes:
the modernization of IT systems;
the training of staff;
Holding BDZ debt payment, in order to reduce the pressure of creditors, which could lead to raise funds through the privatization of BDZ Tovarnni Prevosi goods business;
the sale of non railway assets , including buildings and surplus locomotives and wagons, to raise more funds.
Consultation with the parties concerned to the Transport Committee will take place this month, following the introduction of the program on April 8.
