Photo Balkanmodels: Late Spring 1984. Ok I like all Greek stock but there is something special about this one. A505 MLW in NES Thessaloniki ready to depart from Line 7.

Hello christo,

Your photo was great! I can give you some technical information to the diesel-engine:

The engine was the legendary SD 40-2 built by the electric motivedivision(EMD) from 1973-1976. Length over all 20.980 mm. Weight: 180 t. Power:2500 kW.
The Union Pacific Company and the Burlington Northern Company are the owners of this maschines. These companies have about 1000 Engines in their schedules.

It`s bad, that the companies have now no one of the legendary engines in their schedules.

Many model railroad companies have these engines in gauge 1:87 in their programm in DC.

Which cars is that MLW pulling? Are those old Breda in the photo?

This locomotive has a 16 cylinder ALCO 251F engine with 3550 PS horsepower. Locomotive length 19.39 meters.

I am not sure about what carriages it is pulling, but the one behind the loco looks like a Breda.

Not a very commercial model but if I like something (as a rule) I try to make a model of it. It can also be made with a coupling mechanism at the front buffer plate.
