Hi Andy,

nice presentation, I have already received the A-261 but I have some difficulty to remove the body. Did you have a look inside, I wonder if there is an improved gear system and especially if there is a flywheel installed?

For the Model Railway Historian. Two power bogies and a hefty weight in the middle. No fuse boxes above the lights but all 11 running numbers produced.

Hello to all

Panagiotis, Yes, the first try to open the casing is very difficult.
I have for the first loco worked 45 minutes.

The loco have the old gearbox but one flywheel
and with (ESU decoder) runs the loco good.

i think the Cast zinc housing (weight) is to wide,
with the file-tool, i file down the sides,
i think the little windows sticks on the green color,

Open the body;
For the first, on the four door sites from casing to splay,
after give on all sites careful small plastic plates ~ 0,1 - 0,2mm,
then in the middle from casing - the tank, splay the two sites from the tank-push down,
give between plastic plates, press the tank down and try to splay on this position the casing.

I hope i could help.

thanks Andy, all that info is too helpful, I'll give it a try. The flywheel is good news, it surely improves the movement.
I also notice a couple of capacitors, guess they are for current storage.

Some photos of the A 258 at Amfiklia on the 5th April 2013. Unfortunately as all the other locos of the class is withdrawn. I hope OSE is going to restore at least one in working order some day.

Very nice photos - I took many shots of these withdrawn machines when they were at Tithorea some years ago, but it was a very wet day so the pictures aren't so good. I have a couple of the old version of the Fuggerth model and have done some work to improve them - they need a lot! How nice it would be if Roco were to produce an M41 - we can dream!
Regards, Tim.

Curious photo; in this loco, both multiple unit electric couplers aren't in red/yellow colour.

Nice the train in the background. Thessaloniki is really a paradise for trains lovers

BalkanExpress,

You are right. Works photos also show the connectors of A250 Ganz in blue. They must have changed colours later.
You are also right about NES. It was a paradise, not just to see trains but to smell the diesel fumes at peak times. The train behind on Line 7 is pulled by MLW A458 and the first carriage is an ex-CIWL restaurant car. I have photos of these, but there are still so many topics I need to open.
