Photo Balkanmodels: April 1992 NES Thessaloniki.

It is over 21 years ago I took this photo...and a dream was born to make a model of it.

Photo Balkanmodels: June 2011 Workshop in Forest Row

..two years ago the first batch of Alsthoms rolled out of the workshop.

A second, but very much smaller, batch is now in production and judging by the orders it will probably be the final consignment.

Hello christo, :)

I`ve seen your model locomotive on our forum. I can only say: Great! I `ve a short question to your Model: Is this model a white-metal-construction?

The alsthom locomotive was made under license from the general motordivision and general electrics (GMD and GE)

I `ll wish you a very nice weekend!

Best regards

erwin

Erwin,
I do not know if the Alsthom was built under licence. I think not.

As far as the model is concerned it is mainly Nickel Silver and not white metal. I give you some more shots of construction.

alsthtest1.JPG

The Nickel Silver body, folded and soldered, sits on top of a Nickel Silver chassis which takes a Bachmann motor and flywheels.

alsthtest6.JPG

The original plastic bogies have a metal overlay and resin sandboxes

model alsth 8.JPG

The roof is contoured in resin, with the metal parts snuggle within.

Buffer height detail.

There are more photos if you need more detail.
