120 (ex H561 Hellas Sprinter) SIEMENS EUROSPRINTER Electric

Since modelling compromise is a very personal choice, everyone is free to apply. In 1985 long before Greek electrics appeared, I painted a German diesel white/sky blue and numbered it E954 to represent an OSE unit  but I had great fun playing with it in my then (unfinished) Bristol layout.

OK, as a "what if" model one could say it's "acceptable" but of course not for the most of us...
just imagine that the FS are getting some of them in a couple of years...

I'm all for modeller's license and "close enough" models - its very difficult to build a layout and make everything perfect. But the Vectron is an odd choice indeed. Didn't Electrotren already make a pretty good AC model of the Hellas Sprinter? If there is more correct model already on the market, why would Marklin produce an obviously incorrect model?

Far from me the very idea of starting again the age-old discussion of what's acceptable in modelling and what's not...

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised to see at some point the 'whatif' case turning true... the Vectrons have been through their childhood diseases and are now considered to be a successful successor to the Eurosprinter family design. Wikipedia shows an impressive list of orders for single- or multi-system versions, the latest addition being the ...TCDD!

Rgds to all from sunny Geneva,

Concerning the HO models, it's clear to see that Lima got the cab numbering right and Electrotren got it wrong. And when it comes to the shape of the side cab window, they both got it wrong.
