I think they're much more differences, aren't they, Christo?

ARKits are the more suitable base loco to start transforming into it, actually, aren't they?

There are indeed more details that need to be changed but for me the correct dimensional details of the bogies is important. I can leave with many compromises including bogie side frames but the loco has to have the right principal dimensions. We are all different in our compromise choices but we all love trains :D

BTW who is coming for coffee in Chalkidiki?

the quality of this 45class 10x better as the old ARKits models.

for a conversion to the greek loco is the original version the best basic
number 4501 /45-1 (sand boxes not on the corners)

Andy,
You are absolutely right. The quality is much better. The Greek Alco ran on 4.19m bogies while the Australian one run on 3.81m. The difference in HO is 4.3mm on each bogie which also affects the overall wheelbase. I can live with this compromise if I had no choice. However I experimented using the Broadway Limited Alco RSD bogies but I did not progress far.
Next year I will have much more time since I would only be teaching part time. I can finally make some time into delayed projects.

Apreciate TEE1055,

Be carefull with loco leght. This RENFE loco is shorter than ARKits. When we use to transform ARKits into RENFE, we use to cut the basis loco something about 3 or 4 cms (I can´t remember now)

As I have asked before, in order to proceed myself to transform mine, could anybody inform about the real lenght, in 1:87, for this loco?

Regards

BalkanExpress,

I had posted a drawing stating the exact principal dimensions of this loco (including length) on page 1 of this topic.

I don't know if we could use the MABAR model, I just wish we could...
That AUSCISION model seems to be a bit complicated to order... :?
