BM CG A255 A251 Aug86.jpg

Photo Balkanmodels: August 1986 at NES Thessaloniki. Double header of loco A255 and A251 with a 17 carriage train (yes I counted all the carriages) full of conscript soldiers bound for Athens and the South. Crying mothers, girlfriends on platform 3, if I remember correctly, and leading carriage the Hungarian Driving Trailer. I was still green with the new camera and I was also using 400ASA film  but the second loco was covered in black oily soot.

and now for something different.

BM CG A.254 Apr90.jpg

Photo Balkanmodels: April 1990 at the Engine Shed Thessaloniki. A double Ganz consist. The nearest loco A.254. Note the tiny logo and the lettering painted higher than normal. Could they not find the correct stencil :D or do you have another suggestion?

I just found another photo from Phil Warmald showing A.261 with different logo and lettering. Since no one offered any suggestions to the previous post, I expect we will never know the reason.
