the CONSENT LEASING containers

most of you know my interest on freight trains and especially the container carriers
these consists of the green CL containers was something I wanted to model for quite some time, and the reason I started making my own custom decals

I started creating the decals from photos I collected at the net, and the first test print was made at the end of 2012

the project was at a halt for quite some time, till I have the chance to take some shots of my own. after minor corrections I had the final successful test print at the end of the 2013

that's for now, I'll go on with more info and the models soon

times that the long trains of the green containers was a common sight in our lines, were over by the end of 2012. though quite some of them were, and still are, participating in freight consists till today. I finally had the chance to be close to some of them during last summer.

OK, soon wasn't soon enough

after six months I managed to finish a couple of the containers and load the Sggmrs
it took me 2.5 hours to apply the decals on each one of them... there are 14 more in the workshop...

they are going to get a weathering, together with the wagons, when I have them all finished
the second one has some patches of a different shade of green applied before the decals

Hi again,
here we go on with the models used.

The wagons are AAE Sggmrs Doppel Tragwagen, as our German speaking friends would say, from Mehano .
They look just fine, the only ''problem'' is that they are plastic and the ''weight'' is in the containers, so I don't know how they perform when empty.
The reason I had chosen them is only their price, they were on an offer two years ago at 36.00 Euro Today selling at about 59.00 they don't look like a bargain anymore...

The consist of eight such wagons (16 containers) with the engine gives a 3.20 m model train, the only thing missing is a layout big enough to operate
With a double MLW traction as Andreas suggested, it would look most impressive

I also needed to have the containers of the models replaced. Looking at the real thing photos I had noticed that almost all of them were 45'...
At that time the only HO CL containers available, apart of the one included with the Mehano model, were that of the Belgian B-Models and they both were 40'
I had two choices for a 45' model, LS Models and AWM
I had got an LS Models set of 2 containers from eRail, and had the first test of the decals.

There is a major difference between the LS and AWM models, the second one being a HIGH CUBE container (thing that I actually prefer)
You can compare the four models mentioned till now at the following photos.
As you can see the AWM containers capture more convincingly the look of the real thing

ofcourse one could use both the LS and AWM containers together, have a look at the followig photos from Artemis Klonos and Nikos Kandiris

note the use of both standard and High Cube containers, the differences in the shades of green and grade of weathering that I hope to capture in scale too...

and the last part with some details

as I have mentioned above the MEHANO models are made of plastic instead of metal alloy as is usually the case
Jonmood gave me a great idea to easily add weight to the containers that can also be used in many cases
these self adhesive 5gr ''weights'' are used at the tire fixing stores to calibrate the wheels

as the holding pins don't correspond at the AWM containers I had them cut and using a template I have drilled small holes on the frame and added wire ''pins'' on the containers

Painting was made with Vallejo acrylics, mixed in different proportions than the LS model to achieve some variety. A gloss varnish was applied before to place the decals...

And finally everything was sealed with a mat coat. As you can see the decal film is really invisible.
At this last picture you can see my LS and AWM containers at the bottom, together with the stock Mehano an B-Models ones.
