Good evening to all the friends!
I've had some time to write and I'll show you two or three jobs done on the layout from mid-September onwards.
1) I put wooden joint and alignment battens behind the background, then installed, primed and painted it.
2) I printed out the design of the entire layout and started measuring and testing to make sure the grammology wouldn't present any particular problem in the future. This process took me a lot of time and I even made two small changes due to design failure (because in practice everything is visible).
3) After I was sure of the design on the layout I started to cut it into pieces (grammology, road, surrounding areas) to pattern everything in plan view.
4) I cut the round hole for the turntable and made grooves with the router for the pits.
5) I've built the wooden track and road riser ramps behind the station with the patterns and they are ready to fit which will be the next job.
Although I am progressing at a slow pace as it is my first attempt at construction, I would hope to have the first round of lines done by Christmas and the train crossings start.
