3AK 1000.01-07 B’2’2’B’dh ESSLINGEN 1958 2 X 500PS Mercedes-Benz Maybach. 3-car articulated units. Order included 7 2nd class trailers classified as AP 000.21-27. Became SEK ABK θπτ 6001-6007, trailers as Bφπτ 0021-027.

Seven three-car DMUs built by Esslingen-Ferrostaal in 1958/1959.
According the info I have gathered from the net, they were operational till the early 90s.
Let's wait for the ''experts'' to give us the rest ;)

DMUs with initial numbers 3AK1000.01-07 and later ΑΒΚθπτ 6001-6007.

Trailers with initial numbers ΑΡ000.21-27 and later Βφπτ 0021-0027.

In 1998 ΑΒΚθπτ 6003 was half-refurbished but remained unfinished. Now it's counting its days of existance as soon as it is included in the scrap list for 2014.

HI Everyone,

Has any of the 'Mercedes', as they were currently being referred to, been marked for preservation?

In the early days of the SFS, fans were divided into Dietrich-fans and Mercedes-fans; A Dietrich set has been preserved, but has any of the Mercedes been set aside?

Iossif

6002 was left in Agioi Anargyroi before it was sent to Kalamaki and then Sirtis. The reason it was rebuilt for is a programm to upgrade all Esslingen DMUs by changing their 1000HP Mercedes engine with a MAN one (like MAN trainsets) in order to be used as intercity trains. Now the only one left is 6007 in Kalamata Depot, not working but with some repairs it will move.As for the interior, both 1st and 3rd cars were powered(with engine) and one of them was first class. All the trailers were second class, with red seats(1st class had blue ones).

And the "cocpit" was not in both right and left from the door.It was only at the one side and that's why there is only one mechanism to clean the front window.

http://mithostousirti.blogspot.gr/2013/09/2008.html has great photos from the Esslingen in Syrtis.......
