The 28th February Greek Rail Tragedy!

As citizens, parents and rail-fans, we are all deeply sorry about the 28th February rail accident!

Accident is a word not enough to describe what happened! Describing it as a Tragedy would be most appropriate!
Feeling sorry is not enough to describe how we feel! The loss of 57, mostly young people is more than anyone of us can bear!

I have to admit that it is difficult to sustain any kind of enthusiasm for the Greek railway at this point in time given the tragedy that unfolded on February 28 as we learned more heartbreaking details about the young victims and the proximate as well as longer term causes of this horrific event.

I can only hope that lessons will be learned. If any good comes out of this tragedy it should be a strong commitment and action on the part of the state and the various railway authorities to drastically improve railway safety.
