The historic train of Pelion

Good morning to all members and friends of the forum. Today opens a new page for historic train of Pelion. The Volos-Milies railway, or the train of Pelion, as is known, or else Mountzouris is a train-tourist attraction of Pelion villages.The railroad was built in two stages between 1894 and 1903. It was about 80 years, a benchmark for area.In nowadays the train continues to climb in the Pelion villages, having made a break at the time 1971-1996. In 1994, the OSE He started the line restoration work, until, on May 25, 1996 made the first official route, 25 years after his retirement.To rolling material consisted initially of three Hagans steam engines, which were added in 1903, five velgium.Today the train consists of both the old steam locomotives, carriages with wooden balconies and two diesel locomotives acquired by OSE in 1999-2000 and took the count ΔA 1 and ΔA 2.

The following pictures are through the Thessaloniki International Fair by me on September 12, 2016. The steam locomotive is a Tubize 2-6-0 from 1909 and transferred from Volos to Thessaloniki for the Fair.

Thanks again Tassos. Many years ago Malcolm, an old friend, modeled this loco from scratch. Regrettably a while later, he passed away. His widow sent me half a dozen photos, his modelling notes and some magazines. I do not know what happened to the model. Our friend in this forum br99hoe knew him much better than me, maybe he can share more than I am able.

Good morning

I have not seen it's gauge...is it metric gauge, i suppose.

I thought this line was operated by those 'steam like' locomotives, but no steam real ones were under operation.

Three locos left;ΠΗΛΙΟΝ,ΜΗΛΕΑΙ,ΙΑΣΩΝ.Only the first two are working with ΙΑΣΩΝ stored together with the ex-Sarakli/Stavros line (also 60cm) Baldwin loco.More information will be posted in the following days.
