HI Everyone,

One more pic of the Iota Alpha. Impossible to say where and when the pic was taken, although the painted siderods suggest the middle 30s. There is obviously no living memory of these engines, and it's difficult to say which ones, if any, survived WWII. One thing is known, the engines arrived in Greece in 1921, so it's doubtful if they have ever seen service under their ΠΔΣ Γ class designation (and obviously they could not have conributed to the war effort during the Balkan Wars, as often claimed...)

Those locomotives looked remarkably similar to a batch of engines supplied by ALCO to the New Jersey Railroad in the early 1900s.

Any further information would be highly welcome!

Iossif how fantastic to see your photos that I have never be seen before. I am so ....Are there any more? What is the OSE Bureau of Public Relations, 1978. It is the first time I hear of it.

HI Christe, this office existed at the Central OSE building (Karolou) as ΓΡΑΦΕΙΟ ΔΗΜΟΣΙΩΝ ΣΧΕΣΕΩΝ in the late 70s and early 80s.

The office was well known among railway enthusiasts, since it was there that photo permits were issued; the last manager was N. Mantzaridis, whose name became emblematic at the SFS... He gave me the pix I posted.

I don't know if the office still exists...
