Dear friends,

Balkan Models has purchased the rights, moulds and everything relating to kits E101 ( Lb951 class) and E109 (THg521 class) from DJH. These kits will still be manufactured by DJH but only be available through us. There is a minimum factory order of 10 kits. Price will depend on level of interest.

Good morning all,

Just a quick update from the train shed: The THg has been repaired (I had managed to break my flimsy homemade lighting circuit) and is back in service. Hooray!

I also made good on my promise/threat and finally fitted a snowplough. Yes, I have been advised to the contrary, the Controller pointed out to me that only the 571 and 575 had them, but then, we don't know what the real 521 looked like, and so I am claiming some artistic licence here:

The plough I designed from some photos on the internet of the 575 at the time it was brought to the Mid Hants Railway (edit: see also bottom of p. 4 of this thread), and then had it 3d-printed. Twice, as the original design turned out to be a tad off the mark.

Curious to hear your thoughts.

All the best,

Hi Bernard. Your Θγ is always a pleasure to look at!
I like it being in OSE markings and I totally agree with the snowplough addition.
The loco looks a bit more "aggressive" ;)

Afternoon everyone,

Now here's what I do with slow Saturdays:

Image

Since buying and modifying the lanterns for the Θγ in piecemeal fashion is cumbersome and ultimately quite expensive, I started drawing my own for 3d-printing.

I have also designed an LED holder that just slides in through the hole at the bottom (on the big lantern and the alternative small yellow ones for the front buffer beam) or at the back (on the big headlights and the orange tender backup light).

As with the snowplough, I have no original drawings or measurements, but work strictly unscientifically by guesstimate off photos available online.

More parts needed for a complete conversion kit, but it's a start. Curious as always to know your thoughts.

Best wishes,

Bernhard (Θγ)

Hello Bernhard (Θγ), thank you for your advice on making an H0 scale SEK Θγ. :)

Hi Pierre,

The photo is actually in my favourites on Flickr and has provided the inspiration for this:

Notwithstanding the holidays, work proceeds relentlessly on my improvised Θγ transformation kit:

Here are some lanterns on a 1 Euro Cent coin, straight out of the printer and still requiring clean-up, pushing the limits of my camera lens.

Quite impressed, though, with what 3d printing can achieve.

Curious, as always, to know your thoughts.

Merry Christmas everyone!
