Hi...was my expertise asked???
No...just kidding. The matter with the G10 is complex. About 14 years ago I asked one senior member of the SFS (Mastro Ntinos Vasilopoulos) who remembered these locomotives. Mastro Ntinos is about 95 now so you can guess that he saw a number of G10 in his life.
I asked him about the colours and he told me the following: "My son, the Ka had a dark red frame and wheels -black frame is as in every SEK Locomotive because it was never cleaned- and their superstructure was Grey". I answered perplexed.... "Grey????". He then said "These were the only steam locomotives in Greece that had Grey superstructure....all the others had black!".
Mastro Ntinos is a very reliable person and if he saw that with his own eyes I will not despute it. None of us has seen a SEK G10 so we cannot prove the opositte although I had some disputes about that in the Amnizia forum.
My guess is that the locomotives kept the German Grey from WWII and about the red...hm...when the locomotive was overhauled just the frame received red.
I will upload some pictures of my Ka during the Weekend. Mine is not finished. I need the detailing of the boiler and I have ordered Weinert driving wheels, which at the moment are not available.
Cheers
Andreas
