5395000-368. Another large class converted in 1962. No doubt Jason could provide amazing details as with the converted ballast wagons.

BM CG I1 Oct90.jpg

Photo Balkanmodels: October 1990 Engine Shed Thessaloniki. Note the different metal constructional detail and slight difference in livery. Also the prototypal curly USATC handbrake wheels.

BM CG I1 Apr93.jpg

Photo Balkanmodels: April 1993. I cannot remember where I took this photo but I think I was travelling to Athens.

BM CG I1 Jan93.jpg

Photo Balkanmodels: January 1993 at the SOM Shed area. The small single road shed was facing the SOM but alas, it is now gone. It went to the widening of the new motorway connection.

two wagons from the Amphiklia station, one of them is so bleached that the serial number isn't visible anymore

Haha, i had fallen into that trap too, Barbapanagos.

The correct - real number of '' 20 73 539 5 166-9 '' is 20 73 539 5 163-6 ... I guess 539 5 166-9 was written by mistake. I had found the original 166-9 at Agii Anargiri (it's still there) and that made me search more the fake one at Amfiklia. If you search the number from different sides you will see the correct one. ;)

Your unknown is 20 73 539 5 016-6.

These cars are convertions from the ''common'' ex- U.S.A.T.C. plywood body - vans.

Dear all, good afternoon,

Does anybody has the plans or measurements of this wagon? seems easy to do in brass or pvc (evergreen)...

My basic doubt is the chassis...is there any comercial chassis that will fit to this real wagon?

Regards

BalkanExpress

Hello BalkanExpress,

Both Klein Modelbahn and Sachsenmodelle/Tillig make the basic USATC open wagon. This is the chassis you need.

Oinoi railway station, 06.12.2014.

Is the chassis of those belong to this type? Or not?

The body-shell (αμάξωμα) belongs to T.M.K. (Τμήμα Μεταλλικών Κατασκευών / Section of Metal Construction) used as ΚΙΝΗΤΟΝ ΣΥΝΕΡΓΕΙΟΝ ΜΗΧΑΝΙΚΩΝ / MOVING WORKSHOP OF ENGINEERS. Are these wagons converted by I1? Operation-no., not so visual. It looks like a date of convertion - pic 2.

Dimitris,

It's the same type of underframe. The I1s are converted from "plywood" vans like these.

This is not a conversion date but the number.

Thanx Jason,

I already have understood it, although I am not an expert in rolling-stock, but I needed a 100% - confirmation. Everything in the chassis, look exactly the same, showing that is converted from the I1. Yes, it's the operation-no, as I see it very carefully, but in the beggining I confused it, as it wasn't so visual to see it, and it looked like having dots (.) between the numbers, that's why I thought it was a date.

Be careful: the I1s were converted from the Ζπ, not the Ζπ from I1s... ;)
