I did with Barba some background search.

1) The wagons were 8 (maybe 9???) and not 7 (According to the rolling stock list of 1991). If 9 one was destroyed or scrapped before 1991.
2) This descrepancy in the numbering is due to the fact that the wagons were renumbered somewhere before 1988 (because the earlies picture that we have is 1988 with second numbering).

The original numbering was: 31 73 398 0 000-008 as Rmmss (According to the Rolling stock list of 1991 that indicates also the change in the numbering)...I said before 9 because the numbering starts from 000 to 008....or it was mistakenly written instead of 001-008....

The new numbering: 31 73 395 9 000-007 as Rmms (Again from the 1991 list).

3) The Austrian and the Greek wagon are identical in every detail. Even at the holding of the stakes and on the floor layout. We have found photos of at least 5 different wagons in our archives.

4) My last documentation of these waggons is 2 of them in Dikaia station in Fall 2009. 003 and 004. So it means that at least until this point the waggons were in use in original condition.

They were eight (8) wagons, ordered in 3 April 1979, and manufactured by Simmering Graz Pauker A.G. in 1980.

Their numbers were initially 31 73 398 0 001-008, but were soon replaced by 31 73 395 9 000-007. In fact, the flatbeds entered service just after this renumbering was completed, at SOM, Thessaloniki.

Here, it is noted that although it looks strange, this is not the only example of such an early renumbering. A more usual case though, was that wagons were delivered just with wrong check digits.

Although these flatbeds were designed to carry military tanks, as years passed by they saw other uses as well, either being used by track maintenance teams, or two of them being converted to snowplows in October 2007 by Piraeus Works/Alexandroupolis depot, for Northern Greece.

Their withdrawal began in early 2000s and continued along the decade to early 2010s... The last survivor in service was REVisioned in April 2011, so theoretically it could still run, but I don't think this is the case.

Since they are just 8 cars, I upload a photo of each one, respectively.

I'd like to note that 003-4 photo is the only one sample of the stake holders in use...
just in front of the boggie.



At a discussion I had with Andreas we ended at he conclusion that each holder would hold two stakes.

Important announcement

I have been quite involved with this project and I am currently doing all the coordination, thus I have made a decision.

Should I continue to coordinate the project, I am afraid that I will only accept people that I know for a long time for ordering the wagon. Should somebody else choose to coordinate the project (Olympus, Barba, Christo) can do as he wishes. I am sorry for that but under the circumstances in the Greek railway modelers I cannot do anything else.

So please no pm's,no emails for this or any other wagon project for ordering or asking for updates. Only people that I personally know. I am terribly sorry.
