Here's another one, apparently a Yugoslav-built example, taken at Thessaloniki in 2000, when it was about to be vigorously fly-shunted onto a military train in the main station.

A further example, near Strimon in 2000 - sorry it's a bit chopped off, photo taken from a moving train! Can anyone tell us what the angled boxes on the chassis are for?

A Yugoslavian one, taken I think at Drama in 2000.

And finally a Romanian one, again, I think at Drama

Hi Tim,

as far as I know you can use these van for trasporting bulk products (f.e. grain). You are shuting the doors and as you can see you have 3 openings in the roof for filling them up. You can also se the gangway on the rooftop. So, these angled boxes are the openings for emptying the vans when they trasport bulk products.

Cheers
Andreas

Thanks Andreas, I'd noticed the traps in the roof but had wondered about how well the side doors would seal for carrying grain, and I'd only ever seen them used for other purposes.

Regards, Tim.

Ζ6 31 73 199 0 001-3 at Sugar Industry of Nea Orestiada

Ζ6 31 73 199 0 001-3 (ΕΒΖ ΟΡΕΣΤΙΑΔΑΣ).JPG

--> Ζ6 31 73 198 9 038 - 049 which became Ζ6 31 73 199 0 038 - 049 built by UZINA DE VAGOANE ARAD, 1973, Gags-v with brakeman's tower

Ζ6 31 73 199 0 046-8 (ΛΑΧΑΝΟΚΗΠΟΙ).JPG

One class of Yugoslavian ....

--> Ζ6 31 73 198 9 201 - 250 which became Ζ6 31 73 199 0 201 - 250, built by MASINSKA INDUSTRIJA NIS, JUGOSLAVIJA, 1973, Gbgs

Ζ6 31 73 199 0 132-6 at Nea Magnisia, Thessaloniki

Ζ6 31 73 199 0 132-6 (ΜΑΓΝΗΣΙΑ).JPG

They are easy to recognise from their doors. Romanian cars' doors' lines are vertical while Jugoslavians' are horizontal.

I have photos from many of them, if anyone wants from a specific one let me know.

Question,

for the Romanian Gags.

There were 50 wagons.

000-037 were Gags-v with a brake platform

038-049 were Gags-v with a brake platform and brake hut

Am I right? All 50 had the platforms but only the last 12 had a brake hut? If you would also correct me but I see that all are Gags-v and not only Gags....

As I said, I am only talking for the Romanian ones.

I would appreciate the help.

Kind Regards
Andreas

Hello, Christo!
Hello, Oloï!

Very interesting, these Gags, they are directly derived from german Bromberg, via the long family of east-german DR Gags :geek: .... There are many évolutions of them, with, most of the time, three trapdoors on the roof, for corn charging, before creating Uas cornwaggons.....

I have one model unachevied because german boggies missing :roll: ... But on these greek models, I see Y25 french type of boggie. :( .. Ahah, maybe a new Gags on my rails :mrgreen: ... Ôo JMfret
