Photo Balkanmodels: April 1994 outside the Carriage shed Thessaloniki. It is coupled next to the Bm VEB. In the foreground a ABm VEB and a Poznan. Note the immaculate, newly painted, white roofs.
Photo Balkanmodels: April 1994 NES Thessaloniki. Arriving in Line 1 behind the Alsthom, pulling a short train of only two carriages. Some DMU must have failed. Happy days.

BalkanExpress,
Other rolling stock had these connections. I remember seeing CIWL stock with them. But at some point (I think early 70s) OSE decided to build extensions to all carriages of these type so that all stock can interconnect with the tubular rubbers.

Yes, for example the 1950s Italian coaches had this type of connections too ("πτυχωτά"). They were replaced with the tubular ones in the early 1970s because it was included in the UIC - RIC standards, mainly for internation use. But as these tubular connections ("ελαστικοί σωλήνες" - elastic tubes) were better and safer, they continued installing them even on meter gauge coaches that would never be part of international trains, such as the SIAI-Marchetti coaches of former SPAP, which actually didn't have the πτυχωτά, but only a central door with a metal pass and hand rails.

Just a late afternoon thought, influenced by a big cup of coffee, snow, etc...
Christo, would you eventually consider a metal kit of the 'Poloneza'?
An idea to meditate...
