Seven Pullman kitchen cars were owned by OSE - bought initially in 1966 by SEK, there were two First Class, ex-Flèche d'Or (4001, 4004) and five Second Class, ex-Étoile du Nord (4102, 4105, 4107, 4108, 4109). These were all built in 1927 in Britain by BRCW at Smethwick, England, for the CIWL trains named above. The main recognition point between the two lots of vehicles is that that 4001/4 have six saloon windows on the kitchen side, whereas 4102/5/7/8/9 have seven since they were originally Second Class vehicles. The opposing bodysides have eight and nine saloon windows, respectively. Most, if not all vehicles have been modified to have the modern UIC pattern corridor connection. The current OSE number check digits listed here are correct; however, they have not always been correctly applied to vehicles in service, for example, there is a photo of 4004 carrying 50 73 88-20 702-2. In addition, 4001 & 4004 are noted to have been painted pale green at some time during their Greek service. All vehicles were converted to standard restaurant cars with revised seating for 35 persons. There is evidence of a previous Greek UIC number sequence, but information is incomplete. Great photo, thanks Pierre.

I'm not that active recently but be sure I'll be back soon :D
I have recently completed some decals, among them a set to convert an Electrotren model to 50 73 88-20 701-5 ΕΣΤΙΑΤΟΡΙΟΝ

ΟΣΕ exCIWL Wr 2b.jpg

The model is from dual set Electrotren 18254, unfortunately a set hard to find.
It contains a wagon with kitchen that can be repainted in OSE colors as it is. The other one is a wagon with only tables and needs some conversion to one side windows and the addition of the kitchen.
Mine is the second one, but I hope with some skill and patience I'll be able to make a decent model out of it!

I'd like to go back to BarpaPanagos's posting of coach ΣΥφπτ 19905 at the MAI.

I don't know in what state this coach is nowadays (maybe an Athens-based friend can check... ;) , but we must do everything possible to save this coach... The last time I saw it, (about ...30 years ago!!) it was reverently referred to by the MAI staff as the 'Venizelos' coach( for our non-greek friends, Venizelos was prime minister in Greece in various periods during the first half of the century; his name is still almost revered in Crete, his homeland).
So, SEK lore used to say that this coach was part of the train that took Venizelos to Switzerland to sign the Lausanne Treaty...
Sorry, can't confirm, I was born 30 years later, but still I believe we must save this coach...

Wagon-Lits Carriage in Athens
A surviving turn of the century Wagon-Lits carriage at Agios Ioannis depot, Athens, on 12th September 1985. The shed-master was very proud to have it at his depot and it had presumably been safeguarded there since the withdrawal of the direct Paris to Athens service in 1976. The OSE fleet number on the underframe appears to read 19905. © Gordon Edgar

Good evening and happy new year everyone!
I would like to model an OSE CIWL WR wagon in the future and would like to ask if there is another one apart from the electrotren model that fits.
I have seen the rivarossi 3527 and the rivarossi 2485 and I would like someone to clarify if these are compatible models to convert to OSE.

Hi George, I think you can use the Rivarossi models If you have one.
The Electrotren coaches were introduced in 2011, although I don't know if the molds are older. They are not up the later Electrotren and ACME standards but they look ok.
The Rivarossi models were released back in 1992-93 as I found after a google search and at the photos they look a bit "bulky"
Also the CIWL crest seems to be a "relief" instead of a decal. Is it so?

Good evening!
I haven't gotten a rivarossi model yet, that's why I asked, with the possibility of buying something like this.
In the photos it does appear to be embossed.

I'd suggest to get one if found in a good price
With some work it will look fine
Then we can all wait till ACME will release an appropriate model and we'll make another one :D

I noticed in a previous post of yours that you have been involved in designing decals.
If I found such a model could you help me with the decals?
