I have a small number of the following frets in 0.3mm brass.


This fret of the very first MLW version, is not as accurate as the latest version but it makes a possible model.





These photos are of the MLW that Barry Ward had built for running on Megalo Hwrio.

PRICE of the fret is £50 and it will include the following white metal parts:
4 buffers
1 roof chimney
1 square roof funnel
1 rectangular roof box
2 horns
8 sandboxes
It will also include Instructions + Diagram
POST (and anything else) will be extra.

PS. One could also try something exotic with this fret like the Yugoslav, Tunisian, East African, Brazilian or another MLW I do not yet know. Note that the Portuguese is done already by Armando L.

Which loco are used to motorize this kit you offer? Is that any comercial model from which you use the bogie sides and so on?

For the lovers of history who want to write an article about Balkan Models when I have retired.


The original "ancient MLW" kit out of 0.3mm brass, included a bogie kit out of 0.6mm brass and it used a Sagami motor mounted on one bogie.


The Sagami bogie was difficult to build and the pulling power of the loco was about a couple of carriages. So the bogie part of the kit was discarded and a new white metal chassis was used with a Mashima 1624 motor, the most powerful of the 16 range.


There have been various attempts to "reproduce" this product by artists as well as copiers. But...that should be the subject of another topic.


The current (and final) version uses the Mashima 1830 motor with slightly better specification than the 1833 that is used by the Alpha Trains Adtranz.

Possible ways to motorise the old frets:

By constructing the bogie kit of brass 0.6mm fret to make bogies as in first photo,

or by utilising a white metal chassis + mashima 1624 motor + bogies as in second photo,

or by scratch building a mechanism like in the third photo.

Some of the above items are available but they are not included in the price of the sale offer. Other items will also be required to complete like couplers, handrail knobs, handrail wire etc.

Finally a necessary level of skill will be required for such a task to be undertaken.

Sorry for the late answer, but i was the complete day in the work
"a Special work layer on my birthday " ...

Now only two of these ancient kits + white metal mechanism left. If I hear nothing, in a few days they will be going to the scrappers.
